Just Listen Blog Continued

I knew it, I knew it, I knew it! I just knew that Annabel would fall for Owen! Owen actually seems like the perfect guy for her! I have continued reading Just Listen, and though I am not finished yet, I have read some interesting parts that show that these two characters, Annabel and Owen, are beginning to develop a real relationship. In a few occasions, Owen and Annabel are very close to kissing, but they somehow get interrupted. Then, I read this part where they went into a car wash together, and they finally actually kissed! I was so happy! I think that they make an really cute couple!
Annabel's relationship is going very well, but what about her family? Whitney is still in therapy for her eating disorder, but she is gradually getting better. Annabel is still worried about Whitney, and I don't blame her at all! If my sister was in a similar situation, of course I would be worried, too! One of Whitney's therapists is having her do an assignment, where she had to write something about her life, and another one about her eating disorder. Whitney thinks it's a stupid project, but I personally think it is a pretty good idea because Whitney's life and her eating disorder are two totally different things. Annabel wants Whitney to get entirely better, but I'm not sure if that will happen. Eating will probably not be a normal habit for her anymore, it will be something she is forced to do. I feel bad for Annabel, Whitney, Kirsten and their parents, because dealing with something that serious must be very hard. I am looking forward to finish this book, and when I do, I really hope that someone else starts reading it right away because it is such an enjoyable book!

Just Listen By Sarah Dessen

If you haven't noticed, two out of my three books that I have been reviewing have been by Sarah Dessen. The reason for that is because she is an amazing author and she really draws me into her books. Once I pick it up, I have a hard time putting it down! This particular book of hers is just a little bit different than Dreamland. It is different in the sense that it has different characters, different settings and different problems. The main character, Annabel, has a major problem. Her problem is that her sister, Whitney, slowly begins to develop eating disorders, that get very bad. Whitney is usually very healthy and strong, but she moves for a job and does not have her family supporting her, so she just loses track of herself, I guess. This book may be hard for some readers to connect to, because if you don't have an eating disorder you don't really know exactly what Whitney is going through. I don't have an eating disorder, but I can imagine that it would be pretty hard to deal with something like that, and hard to stop when you get into the habit and can't control it. Annabel's family is leaving her out on the updates about her sister, and Annabel is really worried. Annabel and both of her older sisters, Whitney and Kirsten, are models and love to model, but with Whitney in the terrible conditions that she is in, will the family be able to continue this hobby, or will it be too hard to move on? I haven't read much of the book yet, maybe five chapters, but I am so excited to find out the upcoming events. This book is great, so I think that everybody that is in need of a book should read it!

The Amazing Book "Dreamland"

I started Dreamland about 1 week ago, and right from the start I knew that this would be a great book! Well, I was entirely right! I love every part of the story, and one thing that I really enjoy doing while reading this book is that I can kind of predict what happens next in the book. The book is about a high school girl named Caitlin, who's sister, Cass, ran away with her boyfriend, Adam. Caitlin and her family were upset for a while, but Caitlin stopped really thinking about Cass when she got herself a new boyfriend named Rogerson. Caitlin thoguht that Rogerson was the perfect guy, but she really didn't know what she had gotten herself into. That was a little summary of what I have read in Dreamland so far, but I still have a few chapters to go, I think. I really love this book and I also love the author, Sarah Dessen. This is my 2nd book that I have read of hers, and I'm guessing that right when I finish reading this book, I will start reading another Sarah Dessen book. This book is starting to get sad because relationships are starting to go downhill and I predict that the end of some relationships are near. Dreamland really draws me into the story, and makes me feel as if I am really watching everything in the book play out in front of me. I just absolutely LOVE this marvelous book! I recommend Dreamland to anyone in need of a WONDERFUL book!

The Phantom Tollbooth

I have just gotten into the book, "The Phantom Tollbooth." So far, I haven't really enjoyed it all that much. I can see what the author is trying to say, and it's not that I don't understand the story, it's just that I don't really think that the story is portrayed in the best way possible. Some of the ideas that are included in the book are fantastic, and that's great. The thing is, there are so many things happening at the same time, that I can't really follow it. I'm not sure what I should do; keep reading, or abandon the book. I would really like to start a new book, but I'm afraid that I am going to miss an important part in the book if I stop now. I have just finished the chapter about the old Which that was telling her story to Milo and an odd dog named Tock. Milo and Tock are in jail, so they decide to talk to an old lady who was in the jail with them. She told them a long, old story that was about the reason that these two cities, Dictionopolis and Digitopolis, became what they are today. Nothing really keeps me reading except for suspension. I am always dying to know what's going to happen next. To me, when I read The Phantom Tollbooth, it is not really pleasurable, it is more to pass the time. People that might really enjoy this book are people who have great imaginations, and people who really like words. This is actually the first book that I have read by the author, Norton Juster. I am not fully impressed, so I won't give up on him entirely.  I picked this book up because I got it as a birthday present and I ran out of new books, and then I found this book hiding in my bookshelf. My favorite kind of books are usually drama, romance, comedy and sometimes action books. I also really like some mysteries, but others, aren't so great in my opinion.
